The Kingdom of Magnamaine
The Word of the Five in the Kingdom of Enther consists of Five Testaments. These Five Testaments tell the story of how the Coryphians came to be, their rise and fall at the hands of the five Heroes and the building of the great kingdom. However these texts omit several accounts of how the fabled “War of Aigea” affected the surrounding lands outside of Enther. One such tale revolves around the lands east of the Nethermore Mountains, the Kingdom of Magnamaine.
Not much is known about the Entherlands prior to the dark ages. Relics suggest smaller kingdoms and nations existed here, much like in Enther however unlike their western counterparts, even less remains.
When the hero Matheus and his armies rose against the King of the Coryphians many of the Coryphians in the Entherlands left and crossed the Nethermore Mountains to join forces with their king and the people of the Entherlands seized their opportunity to relinquish the grip of their dark overseers. The dwarves, who had stayed entombed in the mountains for a millennia, spilled into the lands to fight the remaining depleted Coryphians. The people of the Entherlands rose up and a rallied behind a group of fierce warriors, much like the Heroes of Enther and were able to liberate themselves before the fabled final battle.
When Matheus slew the King of the Coryphians atop Mount Enther, the remaining Coryphians fled back into the Entherlands believing they would find shelter. They were met by a force of both man and fairfolk, who were able pincer the fleeing Coryphians who were subsequently eradicated over time by forces on both sides.
Throughout this time, the warriors fabled in the uprising became influential people in the lands, and one in particular would be crowned king of the new kingdom. The man was known simply as Magna, would become the great king of the kingdom. The Kingdom became known as Magnamaine, and King Mag ruled with an iron fist. Magnamaine, named for King Magna would stretch over the Entherlands, up to the Morathen gorge and to the Nomadic Strait.
Magnamaine would begin to see a divide during the waning years of King Magna’s life. Some believed that conquest and expansion should be the way, whilst others pushed for development of the lands they already possessed. King Magna would manage to subdue these parties during his reign, but in 82 ABA King Magna would die. His son, Prince Magnel had died raiding the islands of the Black Sea and his two sons would bicker for who would become king in the wake of their grandfather’s death. The opposing parties would back a princeling each, resulting in a civil war. The war ended in 84 ABA where the two brothers would parley and subsequently agree to split the Kingdom. Prince Harvmac, the elder of the two would take the western half of the kingdom. The younger prince, Geoffroi would take the eastern half. These kingdoms would be named Brethia and Charlyon respectively.
Charlyon would focus on development of their aristocratic development. They were not concerned with expansion, and more so with the development of their own lands. Brethia believed expansion and conquest was pivotal and for many years would work on expanding their boarders. This would eventually lead to war between the two new kingdoms as King Harvmac would seek to retake lands from Charlyon in the coming two decades. These skirmishes resulted in the Nomad Lands between both Kingdoms.
