Session Twenty-Six: Something Froggy With The Castle In The Sky.

General Summary

The session begins with the party in Rezmir’s sitting chamber in Castle Naerytar after defeating Rezmir and his two lieutenants. Galrik went to the corpses of Rezmir and the lieutenants and beheaded them. Galrik placed the heads in his backpack. The party decides to search the upper chambers of the castle. After exiting the sitting room the party made their way back to the stairs where the two guards were station. The two guards acknowledged their presence and turn back to the stairs when Galrik approached them from behind and attacked them. The guards, surprised by the attack, tried to defend themselves but were struck down. While Galrik was looting the dead bodies of the guards, Cora notice there was mildew on the castle wall. Cora decided to talk to the mildew to see if she could get some information about magical items and gold. The mildew did not know what Cora was asking so Cora rephrased her question. The mildew tells Cora there is a shiny thing on the top floor of the castle and a shiny thing underneath the castle with another fungus. Cora thanks the mildew and tells the party what she had found out. The party decides to ask Snapjaw about the creature and “shiny” underneath the castle.
  The party traveled back to the dock where Snapjaw was finishing unloading the canoes. Nyx tells Snapjaw they have removed the head of the cult at the castle and Galrik presents the heads to Snapjaw. Snapjaw thanks the party for freeing his people from the cult. Nyx asked Snapjaw about the area underneath the castle and Snapjaw tells Nyx there is a cavern under the castle where Pharblex has his lair with the bullwugs. Snapjaw tells Nyx he can bring her down to the caverns if she wishes but he will not continue in the lair. The party agrees to investigate the caverns and Snapjaw leads them down the access point in the castle to the caverns.
  The party encounters two bullywugs guarding the entrance of the cavern. Snapjaw tells the bullywug the recruits want to speak with Pharblex. The bullywugs tell Snapjaw Pharblex is not taking any visitors when Galrik attacks them. The bullywug ,unable to react in time, are quickly slain. Snapjaw tells Nyx he will return to the surface and make sure they are not disturbed. The party travels east down a small stream into a small cavern. As they were making their way in the stream, Nyx and Galrik slip in the mud and lose their footing. As Galrik and Nyx struggle to get up to their feet a gray ooze erupts from the stream attacking them. The ooze slams Nyx while Galrik swings at it. Cora hits the ooze with a spell as Nyx regains her foot and attacks as well. The ooze recoils from the attacks and begins to dissipate as it dies. Cora tries to salvage some of the ooze for Friac but gets an acid burn from it. The party searches the area and finds several gems stones.
  The party exits the chamber and travels south. They enter a cavern with a mud pit with two bullywugs in it. Galrik sneaks through the mud and attacks the bullywugs while Cora and Nyx fly over. The party makes quick work of the bullywugs. After checking the area the party continues following the caverns to the south. The path opens into another cavern where Nyx spots two large centipedes on the ceiling. Nyx flies up and quickly cuts them down. Cora examines the bodies of the centipedes and decides to remove the venom sacs from them. After some time Cora successfully removes the sacs from the corpses.
  The party moves on and the path opened into a large chamber with an underground lake. The party sees a small island in the middle of the lake. Around the lake there was a small shore. On the island, the party saw what looked to be frogs. Galrik decided he was going to try to swim out to the island. Galrik drops his backpack and heads out into the water. Galrik makes it halfway across to the island when his armor fills with water and pulls him under. Galrik was able to grab a breath of air as he goes under the surface of the water and begins to sink to the bottom. Nyx tries to cast a water breathing spell on Galrik but in his panic resists the spell. Cora wildshapes into a hippopotamus and makes her way into the lake. Cora finds Galrik and puts him on her back while resurfacing. Galrik slight confused at seeing a hippopotamus until Cora tells Galrik he is safe. Cora and Galrik make their way to the island while Nyx flies over. At the island Cora and Galrik see a dozen large frogs. While on Cora’s back Galrik swings and kills several frogs while Cora tramples a group of them. Nyx flies down and attacks the frogs while Galrik continues to fight on the back of Cora. Cora turns and makes another charge trampling more frogs. Nyx finish what is left of the frogs. The party takes a few moments to harvest some meat from the frogs before returning to the shore.
  The party enters a small cavern off the shore and finds a shallow pond. Inside the pond they find hundreds of tadpoles. Deciding the tadpoles were being used for evil purposes the party enters the pool and kills the tadpoles. The party exits the cavern and makes their way over to a small beach on the other side of the lake. The party finds bones of several large creatures. In one corner of the beach Cora finds the bones of an elf, dwarf, human and halfing near several manacles. After searching the bones, Cora finds a signet ring with a dwarven heraldry.
  The party makes their way to the north of the lake and finds a secondary cavern leading away from the lake. The party follows the cavern where they discover a low lying mist. The cavern split into two different directions and the party followed the mist into another cavern. Nyx casts detect magic and finds a large magical source in the center of the cavern. Nyx moved closer to inspect the magical source and disappears. Cora casts gust of wind exposing a gate in the middle of the cavern. Cora and Galrik enter the gate after Nyx.
  Nyx is transported through the gate and ends up near a small road leading away from the gate. Near the road is a large stone building. Nyx makes her way down to the large stone building. A troll with four arms opens the door with a small dragon like creature on a leash. The troll asks Nyx to show the sign. Nyx shows an amulet of the Cult of the Dragon to the troll. The troll points down the road and tells Nyx the others had just past. Behind Nyx, Cora and Galrik appear through the gate. Nyx sees them appear and tells the troll Galrik is a recruit with a pack animal bring what was left through the gate. Galrik approaches with Cora still as a hippopotamus. The troll asks Galrik for the sign but Nyx tells the troll he doesn’t have it yet. The trolls scolds Galrik and tells him be better have the sign next time.
  The party heads down the path and Cora changes out of wildshape. Ahead on the road is a small wagon train with two large wagons surrounded by several bullywugs. At the rear of the wagon train was a woman half-elf wearing white armor. She stops the wagon train and calls out to the party. The party moves closer and tells the woman they are new recruits to help with a danger to the wagon train. The half-elf orders the party to scout ahead for any dangers and resumes the movement of the wagon train. Nyx and Cora notice a set of trees which looked out of place ahead on the road. They stop the wagon train so they can investigate. They hear a bird call in the woods and see brief movement. Nyx slips on her ring of invisibility and goes to investigate the trees as Cora and Galrik enter the woods where they heard the bird call.
  Nyx gets up to the trees and discovers it is an ambush site. Nyx looks around and sees four cloaked figures on the left side of the road and two cloaked figures on the right side. Nyx notices one of the cloaked figures on the right returns the bird call. Nyx enters the woods to get closer to the cloaked figure making the bird call. Nyx notices a silver pin of a harp as it catches the sunlight. Nyx reveals herself to the cloak figure which startles him. Nyx tells the figure she works with the Harpers and Mirt. Nyx tells she is willing to help. The figure pulls down his cloak to reveal a human male. He tells Nyx if she is a friend of the Harpers then she will stop the wagon train. The man lets out another bird call and the other cloaked figures retreat into the woods. Nyx returns to the path and tells the half-elf there is trouble and she is there to fix it as she charges at her.
  Cora and Galrik enter the woods and Galrik notices a cloaked figure in a tree with a bow drawn in their direction. Galrik goes to take a step forward towards the figure when a second bird call is heard. The cloaked figure relaxes his pull on the string and climbs down the tree. Cora and Galrik hear Nyx yelling at the half-elf and returns to the road.
  Galrik makes his way to the first wagon and strikes it. Galrik breaks several of boards and gold coins pour out of the wagon. The half-elf yell s at the bullywug to attack as she pulls out a wand and hits Nyx and Galrik with an ice storm. Cora summons lighting and commands it to strike the half-elf. The cloak figures move closer to the wagons and attack the bullywugs as they are confused by the attack from the woods. Nyx moves up to the half-elf and attacks as Galrik unleash his breath weapon at the half-elf. The half-elf fights back hitting Nyx with spell inflicting a wound on Nyx. Cora hits the half-elf with lightning as Galrik hits the half-elf. The half-elf staggered backwards as Nyx moves in and finishes her.
  The Harper and the cloaked figures exit the woods. The Harper introduces himself as Azbara. Azbara tells the party he is trying to help liberate a small village named Parnast. When Cora asked where they are Azbara tells Cora she is in the North near the Greypeak Mountains. Azbara tells the party the half-elf is known as Talis the white and she was responsible for the cult’s activities in Parnast. Azbara points to a floating castle above Parnast and tells the party the castle appeared three days ago and the cult was moving items and gold to the castle. Azbara thanks the party for their help and tells them he will split the gold with the party as a reward. Cora looks up at the castle to study its features. Cora notices the stone work and tells the party it is a cloud giant castle.
  Session ended.

Each party member receives 10,000 gold pieces from the wagon train split and 300 gold pieces worth of gems.
