A partial list of types of Undead

Zombies: Zombies are undead created by necromancy to reanimate a corpse. They eventually regain their former minds but never quite fully return to their past selves.   Skeletons: Skeletons are souless automate. They are incapable of thought or feeling. Nothing remains of the original creature outside of a vague idea of what once was, potentially manifesting in such things as walk cycle or weapon proficiency.   Ghouls: Enchanted corpses of dead Clerics and Paladins. These undead can appear ethereal, but are solid flesh and blood made from a mixture of source magic, physical flesh, and ectoplasm.   Revenant: Revenant are celestials who have been cursed with undeath. Much of their free will has been striped away and they often act as vessels of vengeance, following specific tasks tirelessly.   Ghosts: a shadow of someone's soul created by a backlash of source magic. These undead are often bound to a specific location where the person they reflect were killed.   Wraiths: Wraiths are not technically undead. They are parasitic creatures that latch onto someone's soul in life and are often harmless. But should their host die suddenly and through violence, the wraith will consume their host's soul and metamorphose into a macabre creature. In this form, ghouls will stalk and attack anything in the area where their host died. Driving all those in the area away.   Drugar: Drugar are created when corpses are exposed to too much necrotic energy over a period of months to years. Drugar are drawn to the souls of the living, and will devour the living in order to gain small pieces of souls, the more souls a drugar consumes the more lifelike they become.   Vampires: Vampires are creatures created by the magical artifacts of Diavalo. By consuming a vampiric seed, a mortal will be devoured from the inside by the parasitic roots of the magical plant. If the host can survive the changes brought about by the plant, they will become vampires. Those who die during the ritual will be consumed by the tree. Vampires are tree-like monsters capable of uprooting themselves and moving about. They feed off of the lifeblood of the living and use this energy to live for centuries. Furthermore, they can use their seeds to create more vampires, or their fruit to create thralls.   Wer-Kin: Another class of undead created by the magical artifacts of Diavalo. A series of stone masks carved into animalistic visages. When used in a blood ritual, these masks will cause one of those involved to become a powerful undead wer monstrosity, dependent on which mask is used. The remaining ritual attenders become lesser forms of the undead wer monstrosity.   Lich: Liches used to be people. Until they underwent a long and painful process to remove their soul and place it into a piece of soulstone. This soulstone while inhabited by a soul can produce astronomical amounts of source, massively bolstering the lich's magical power but strips away all of their physical traits. Most liches have their soul stones attached to flesh golems or clockwork bodies to improve their physical abilities.   Maleficents: When intense suffering is endured at the same location for years upon years, a Maleficent is born. A creature of pure anger, hatred, and anguish, these undead thrive off of the pain of others. They are cruel and sadistic spirits who torment and harass people. They whisper into the ears of people, making them hear things that aren't there, and curse people with horrifying nightmares.   Wendigo: Constantly hungry undead that stalk the frozen wastes to the north. It is said that if someone resorts to cannibalism while in Chyllathiis, the northern spirits will curse that person for their weakness. Wendigo appear malnourished and skeletal, but can be surprisingly fast. The poor soul cursed to be a wendigo quickly loose their mind from the constant insatiable hunger. . .   Okebuki: Disgusting wingless, featherless bird like creatures, Okebuki were undead born from un-burned corpse piles and the chaotic magics of the Cataclysm. They are intelligent, but seen as being signs of ill omens. The traditional plague doctor's mask is modeled after their beaks and glassy eyes.   Poltergeists: Poltergeists are the souls of the dead which, for whatever reason, instead of being reincarnated, would find themselves inhabiting physical objects instead. This can include haunted suits of armor, or even old radios that speak with a disembodies voice.   Alukah: Alukah are a race of predatory undead that easily blend into every day society. But their normal appearance hides their monstrous nature. Alukah were once sourcerers of great power but they feared the Twins or grew drunk on power and refused to pass on. They extend their life by draining the Source of other Sourcerers in a horrifying barbaric rite of gratuitous torture.
