Genasi

The Genasi Infernum was a Theocracy built around the service and worship of the Prime Elementals, the strongest of the elementals. During the Cataclysm, the Prime Elementals saw this as a time to attempt to emerge into the physical plane through their Genasi servants, in response, the gods wiped the Infernum off the map. Now the only Genasi remaining in the world are the decedents of old military contingents who were not located in the Infernum when it was destroyed. In its heyday, the Infernum was said to have massive pyramids made from solid gold, and its people wore robes of silk and chains of brass and bronze. The Genasi now still hold onto their old heritage usually, but with less regality or flair of the old days.

The Genasi were made by the elementals to serve as vessels in the physical plane and contain their power. As such, each Genasi has a different element dependent on which elemental tribe they descended from.
