The Cataclysm
Gods. Gods are extraordinarily powerful. They can easily raise mountains from the earth with a wave of their hands, and give them a week they can weave a soul and create a life. So, imagine when the gods go to war. . .
Nobody knows who started the war, but it was all encompassing. No gods were able to escape from the hellfire that was reigned down. The war barely lasted a day, but entire kingdoms were wiped from existence, and gods died. . .
The Conflict
Prelude
The war was long coming. The gods while they had all fought together as allies during the Celestial/Divine war, they had far too different ideals to truly live in harmony forever. Diavalo, jealous of Gilgamesh's dragons, created his own twisted mockeries of them, only to anger Gilgamesh with what he took to be an insult. Atlus, sensing he could potentially benefit from a war, whispered in the earts of other gods, egging them on to begin fighting each other. Midorine saw this as an opportunity to expand the influence of her elves and began to move in on the territory of the dwarves while the Demilurge began his own plans for dominion over the other gods.
Battlefield
The entire Wuld became a battlefield. No continent or plane was spared from their wrath or the wrath of their forces.
Outcome
The world became barely inhabitable. So much of it had been burned away in necrotic fire that the mortal races struggled to survive for a long time.
Aftermath
New kingdoms were born, some of which blamed the part magic had played in the war, resulting in its being banned in some sections of the world.
