The Expanse

The Expanse is a universe of different planes, home to countless different races, and countless monsters. The Expanse was once a whole, all of the shattered planes once connected together. The Shattering is an event which date has been long lost to history, but it was when the planes were violently ripped from one another. The populous of each plane all evolved differently, with different climates, cultures, languages, even different ways of perceiving reality.   There are eight main planes of existence, with an impossible number of lesser, more fractured planes. The Gods know the planes as The Ethereal, The Divine, The Astral, The Elemental, The Shadow, The Nether, The Void, and the Mythical planes. The numerous denizens of each plane have their own names of course, as the vast majority are completely ignorant of a world other than their own. The populous of the Mythical plane are completely unaware of those in the Ethereal plane, the Divine clueless of the Astral, so on and so on. The exception, as there always must be one, is the Void. The Void houses naught but a single entity, but one who's power eclipses that of almost all other planes combined.   The ancients of the lands call him The Devourer.
