Gate to Nowhere
Destination Unknown
It is clearly some interdimensional gateway, but parts of the sigils seem wrong. This thing leads to nowhere but itself.
Amongst the many ruins of Timaheim resides a lonely gateway. Built upon the plaza of the town's ruins, its creator or origins are lost over time.
With a lacking amount of records of the town, it shrouds the monument in mystery. Combined with the unknown magic it is imbued with, raises only more questions than it answers.
A gateway with no purpose
Built for Something
The construction of the gateway is a rather primitive approach. Somewhat shaky, it consists of large flat stones forming an arch, kept together by plant life. Built on top a raised platform, it is one of the few landmarks still standing in this town.
Upon closer inspection, one might find large sigils cover the surface of the stones. Most indicate an usage of being an interdimensional gateway, but its destination remains unknown.
At its top a phrase is carved into the stone, written in an Elven dialect:
"A memory forever preserved"
Lost Purpose
Axilya Brand tried to find the original purpose of the gate, but to no avail. At best she could only note it was in some way meant for long-distance travel. Though from what the arcane writings tell, its destination seems to be itself.
The town itself also does not give much knowledge on what the gateway's purpose was either. The difference in architecture may indicate it being foreign from the town's inhabitants.
The biggest theories assume this to be some portal to an unknown place. Perhaps to escape the inevitable siege of the Great Sangfroid Empire, or access to an unknown realm.
Whatever is the case, its purpose right now is lost to time.
Ties to Chronovine
There might be ties to the Chronovine plant found across Timaheim. Seeing as a lot of the plant grows around the archway, it might be this is their point of origins.
Due to the abilities that the growths show, theories might suggest it comes from the gateway. Though what environmental pressures forces a plant to feed off the passage time itself is anyone's question.
Is there a Road To Nowhere running to it or from it?
