Intestinal liquefaction

Arcane Breakdown

Written by Endrise

I don't think "Intestinal Liquefaction" is meant to be a good thing Henry.

Intestinal Liquefaction is an uncommon condition for Fae that causes their internal body structure to literally break down into fluids. Most common in Fairies,it is considered a very fatal problem that can cost many their lives.

Breaking Down

Causes

The most common cause for Intestinal Liquefaction is when Fae start to struggle with their self-identity, leading to them losing grip on their physical form.   Other cases can also happen when Fae get exposed to tremendous amounts of arcane power in quick dosages, usually when injected with it. This causes their body fail to absorb it, producing vast amounts of liquid substance that quickly eats through the rest of the body.

Symptoms

The main symptoms of liquefication is for a Fae insides to become fluid, as tissue breaks down from the inside out. Starting from the inside out, organs proceed to fail over a period of hours, if not days.   The effects can cause a sickening feeling resulting in vomitting, as well as with failing insides causing a multitude of other problems. The results are commonly fatal enough to either permanently disfigure or downright kill most fae, especially Fairies who suffer from the condition.

Treatment

If the condition comes from a disrupted self-identity, trying to help remember their identity can avoid further problems. It may be difficult when a Fae assumes their conditions can only worsen, but if done right it can stabilise them long enough for one to survive.   For overexposure to arcane powers, extracting any access magic from their system can help stabilise the condition as well. The problem lies with knowing how much to extract, as too much can also cause issues as a lack of magic makes it hard to keep their form stable as well.
