Starsight Lake

Written by Endrise

It's a beautiful sight, but not something natural to say at least. At least, not natural to what you expect from Fae. This is something else.
— Firefly Fairy
Starsight Lake is a large body of water found in the Faefire Forest, known for its rather elusive colouration. Unlike most lakes in Silva, its indescrible tones fascinate many of the local druids and natives of the region, considering it a natural wonder of sorts.   Though not much is known for how exactly it has gained this weird colours, the presence began the birth of the Circle of the Stars. And many local Fae folk worry about what lies at its bottom.

Abstract Colours

The most distinct part of the Starsight Lake is its unusual colouration compared to the waters found outside of the forest. Most of it seems to have a magenta tone to it, though observing it for long enough shifts the tones to deeper purples or even pitch black with a sparkling shine to it.   The water itself is drinkable and liveable for life, but it does seem to cause such colourations to occur in one's eyes. No known deaths come from it, implying it is harmless to most folk.   Theories come around for what caused such colours, believing it either to be a result of an aetheryical hot-spot once emerging, or even something at the bottom of the lake itself.

Influence on the Environment

Due to the lake being at the center of Faefire Forest, its water supply has affected local plantlife. Many trees bare the same colours, if not even give a faint glow at night. Uncertainty arises because of it, assuming that the whole area might be contaminated because of it.   Though at the same time, it has garnered attention of local Druids seeing it as something greater. Hence why the Circle of the Stars use it in many of their traditions, even baptising people at the lakeside with the waters.
