Warden Ashes
Remnants of the Flame
The ashes are there to make us remember the flame's fleeting thought. They are remnants of those that burned bright long ago, forgotten by time. Let the ashes make one understand humility, that even the mightiest flame might die out. But that for each new light made, they may burn brighter than before, and shine a light for those that come after them.
Ashes have a special meaning amongst the Wandering Flame's Church. Many believe them to help ward off evils, hence why they form the basis of several rituals amongst the faith.
Safety of the Flame
Preperations
Ashes used for warding are not just any regular ones found in a fireplace. Instead, a seal of Fasma blesses and gives them their protective properties. Doing so is as simple as carving the Celestial's sigil into a wooden talisman and burning it amongst any other fire.
Once the fire burned out, the ashes are gathered, ready to help protect those against evil.
Usage
There are many methods how people use the ash to ward off evils. Amongst them, here are only but a few that most people commonly use in their daily lives.
Entrances
Entrances to buildings and home have lines of ash poured in front of them, discouraging evil spirits from entering them. Everywhere from windows to doors, even fireplaces and any other point where air might enter.
Guardian Urns
In places too big to guard with simple ashes, urns get used, holding the essence of people. Guardian spirits of those close to its location protect these places from evil, serving one last time after their death.
Tattoos
Tattoos act as a more personal protection and are a recent invention in the faith's beliefs. By mixing the ashes with the other materials used, it can bind into the design and ward off evil.
It is a common practice for those that deal with corruptive entities capable such as ghosts or fiends. Depending on what part of the body needs protection, a different tattoo gets engraved.
