Law of Magic and Glamours

The magical abilities used by the Fae did not originally belong to them. They were granted by the gods in exchange for their loyalties and worship long ago. So long as the Fae species maintain their worship of the gods, the magics they hold are as much a part of them as any limb.
That said different Fae species old different levels of magical prowess. This is not a measure of faith as one might expect but a measure of how much magic the Fae's body can stand.
Of all Fae species, the Elves can hold the most which is why they are known as the most magically gifted of all Fae. Other Fae species vary from minor spells to enchantments to major incantational magics. Some Fae cannot use any magic other than Glamours.

A Glamour is a magic spell possessed by all Fae. It allows one to cast an pleasant illusion over an object or human or to entrance a human mind. Glamours do not work on other Fae, only humans and inanimate objects. They can be dispelled by the touch of iron. A human can evade being glamoured by wearing iron. The glamours cast by elves of different courts and faiths can be avoided with the use of specific trees and plants woven into circlets.
