Empire of Sol

The Empire of Sol was born on a planet called Earth. The actual history of the planet is unknown, as the solarian authorities censored most of it from the records. Officially, the planet was formed by a myriad of decadent states that warred against each other for the petty appetites of the masses until the first emperor Valerius Eugenius unified the planet and led the people to the conquests of the stars.

The age of expansion

Approximately 4 millennia before the Fall, the starships of Earth began the colonization of space. During the first thousand years, they expanded through the Milky Way until suddenly their communications and space travel started failing because of some strong interferences caused by radiation produced by an anomaly at the supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy. For several centuries their faster-than-light travel and communication technologies were unable to work properly. 

The age of the rejoining

Approximately in the year 2356 before the fall they restarted their expansion, now reclaiming and reincorporating their former colonies by either force or diplomacy. In this era, they contacted several other civilizations and greatly improved their technology. Eventually, they saw the unification of the star as their manifest destiny and started visualizing their neighbors.

The age of the two galaxies

In the year 1479 BF, Sol found a former colony that rivaled them: the Empire of Gaira. Not used to finding a former colony that was not going to submit to them the relationship was sour from the start but instantly recognized how powerful each other was so their conflict was never an open one but a constant cold war of espionage and political intrigue that never actually managed to damage neither of them, maintained just as a game of pride.  The oldest empires like the Dru'shenvak saw those two newcomers as a legit threat and thus they decided to destroy them but it was too late, both empires were unstoppable and Dru'Shenvak fell to Gaira. When both empires managed to conquer the galaxy the borders grew stagnant. 
This period of peace was interrupted by a power that not only rivaled them but surpassed them, the Uoirn  or Beyonders. This civilization was not from the Milky Way but from a very far galaxy. They came through portals and took the combined might of both empires to drive them away. While the contributions of both empires were key to defeating the invaders, Sol resented that was Gaira the one to give the decisive blow.

The age of stagnation

In the year 696 BF there was a crisis in Sol. With no longer having territories to conquer the empire of Sol became stagnant and saw an era of economical crises and internal conflict. The petty political games of both empires paled into a comparison of the centuries of cutthroat politics that plagued the age of stagnation and even some of the vassals started swearing secret loyalty to Gaira in hopes of seceding from the empire.

The age of unity

Finally, the tension between the hegemonic empires exploded and the fate of the galaxy was sealed at the 181 BF with the victory of Gaira because of the overwhelming advantage of dark energy reactors and Major AI . Sol and their vassals became a vassal of Gaira and surprisingly the old empire populations took it better than anticipated. Since Gaira was a former part of Sol they saw the invaders as just another new solarian dynasty that reunified both their people and the galaxy, also,  the political change made both the economic and political crises stop. Unluckily, the hopes of a bright future were destroyed when the events that led to the Fall started.
