Formicida

Their endonym is actually non-verbal as this species lacks the ability to communicate with words. They were part of a pre-sentient insectoid species that were guided by Gaira in their evolution.  Instead of integrating them as new subjects, the Formicida formed their own vassal state: Tvashi. 
Due to their lack of verbal communication, the empire designed a translation device equipped with a voice synthesizer that helps them to communicate with other species.

Anatomy

They, like insects, have a six limbs structure with a long abdomen at the end. The lower pair of limbs are the legs, the middle one the arms, and the upper ones are two blades sharp as obsidian and hard as diamonds that not only work as a very powerful natural weapon but also as an excavating tool, able to cut their way through rocks. They are also covered in a very hard exoskeleton.

Genetics and Reproduction

Like ants, they have an egglaying caste, non-sentient behemoth whose only function is to lay eggs. Those Formicida queens are invaluable assets to any colony but nonetheless, it falls to the drones and the rest of the functions of their society, government included.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Formicida has compound eyes and are able to see ultraviolet light. Like ants, they are also able to communicate with pheromones.
