Lantern

Some parts of the falling city can get very dark due to every space being used for shelters and homes. Especially the streets overcrowded with plattforms and living spaces of all kinds, makes the light from street lights struggle to get anywhere. Therefore it's common to see people walk around with their own lanterns. In fact many of the lamposts throughout the city have been remade into charging stations for lanterns. The lanterns themselves are usually very simple, with a lightbulb eclosed by glass and a handle at the top. In the bottom of each lantern, theres a socket. When you get to a charging station you simply place your lantern in small aligment holes and plug it in. A full charge usually takes around 45min, and then lasts for around 5h continous use. Since so many people use their lanterns every day, you can often find that people have personalized their lanterns in differnt ways. For some this means changing its color, other adding small trinkets hanging from the handle. The range of these personalizations goes from being almost standard to sticking out so much you'd never have a doubt it was your if all of the cities lanterns were put in a pile. Of course, people with more money and more influence can customize them more than those who don't, and certain government positions gives you a special badge you attach to your lantern. Some of the people who live in the wealthier parts of the city don't have a lantern at all, making a point to never visit the poorer parts. This is something that is becoming harder by each day, as the poor districts get forced into the wealthier ones. These people are genrally shunned by more compasionate people too.
