Bugbear

Boggebogi, also called Bugbear or Giant Goblin, like other goblin-kin, have a reputation for being dim-witted and brutish. This claim is not unfounded and like their kin boggebogi have easily provoked tempers and are prone to fitful rages. Few overcome this flaw bred by their culture's brutal nature.   Boggebogi heroes, though rare, are heard of however and a few have acquired significant renown through their success. Often the motivation for this change of heart comes from the rewards earned from virtue, which in the long term are more pleasing than the short-lasting pleasures of evil for these individuals. Boggebogi females are not given the same opportunities and privileges as the males and so a number choose to run away adventuring for better lives. Some adventuring boggebogi leave their lairs because they cannot stand to eat intelligent creatures or end up on the wrong side of a disagreement with the tribe shamans.   Boggebogi and bogill were both bred by the gobelini as slave races, with Boggebogi serving as elite soldiers in their armies. They are one of the only goblin-kin to be covered in fur. They resemble hairy, feral gobelinus with large greenish eyes that have no pupils and mouths filled with needle-sharp teeth. Their hides range in color from light yellow to yellow-brown, and their fur from brown to brick red standing seven feet tall. They take their name from their noses and claws, which are similar to those of bears. Their claws are not long and sharp enough to be used as weapons. Boggebogi have preternatural skills at stealth and observation due to having an exceptional sense of smell. They are excellent hunters. They eat anything they kill, including humans and humanoids smaller than themselves.   Boggebogi speak a foul sounding language punctuated by gestures, grunts, and snarls. They even use these bestial habits when talking in common, making other races doubt their intelligence. Even the bravest boggebogi has trouble breaking away from its tribe. They prefer to ambush their foes rather than attack head on. If outnumbered or overmatched, most will retreat to fight another day.   Adventuring boggebogi remain territorial even after they leave their lairs. They mentally mark out territory wherever they go, even when traveling. Anything which comes into this space becomes their property, at least in their own minds, or the property of their new tribe of companions. They are natural bullies, forcing their wills on weaker companions.   They are an opportunistic race, prone to temper tantrums and violent outbursts. Boggebogi enjoy wine and strong ale, often to excess. They are stubborn by nature, finding it difficult to negotiate or compromise. Greed courses through their bodies like blood, and even the most noble boggebogi covets glittery, shiny objects and weapons.   Always watchful for omens from the gods, afraid of lightning and violent weather changes, seek to keep on the good side of Skiggaret, the bugbear god of fear.
