Akerite Heresy
Many of the beliefs of the Akerite Heresy are shared with The Melorian Faith, where they differ is that they believe that the world is not governed by one god, but by that god and his family. While the followers of The Melorian Faith believe that Melor alone is responsible for all the wonder and riches beneath the earth, the followers of the Akerite Heresy believe that Melor sees to it that gemstones and jewels are present beneath the earth while his wife Akera, for whom the heresy is named, is responsible for the harvest as thanks for sacrifices made to her family.
The ores and precious metals are then governed by their children Aurane, Agna, Curian and Ferox for gold, silver, copper and iron respectively.
In almost all other respects, the Akerite Heresy follows the same belief system as The Melorian Faith.
Worship
In terms of sacrifices and acts of worship, they are entirely the same as those of The Melorian Faith with the only difference being that they prefer forest glades rather than temple-forges. Some of this is, of course, due to necessity thanks to the purges of the Lectorate that serve The Melorian Faith, but the feeling is also that as Melor and his family resides in the Darkling Glade so they should be worshiped in appropriate surroundings.
Priesthood
The priesthood of the Akerite Heresy is made up of itinerant folk healers, hermits and herbalists rather than the much more formalised priesthood of The Melorian Faith. In a lot of ways, the priesthood of the Akerite Heresy follows more along the lines of Eldaskali in that essentially anyone can call themselves a priest and there is no real barrier to entry.
