Motreini Senate

The Senate of the people of Motrein, comprised of the Grand Princes.

Structure

The Senate must always have an odd number of members to discourage needless ties in voting that could otherwise be avoided. If there is a tie despite this, the Emperor acts as a tie breaker. The primary officers of the Senate are members of The Blood, with other minor nobles of Motrein filling the rest of the seats to ensure that every eligible citizen has a voice in how the empire is run. Ultimately, of course, the final say resides with the Emperor which can render whatever the Senate accomplishes or decides rather moot.

Public Agenda

The stated agenda of the Senate is to ensure the smooth running and continued prosperity of the empire of Motrein. Whether or not they achieve this goal is somewhat debatable, however.

History

Formed almost immediately following the settling of Motrein, the Senate was originally comprised of the first Emperor's most trusted generals and advisors, and their descendants still make up the ranks of the Senate to this day, as is their birthright.
