Farmers Worms
Describe any condition or disease for which a cure was recently been developed.
Farmers Worms is a worm that’s gets under the skin of certain living creatures including cattle, sheep, goats as well as some non animal creatures including humans, Elf’s, Halflings and dwarfs. More animals or species might be vulnerable but there isn’t enough info to know.
When effected the worms get inside you it moves around inside you affecting your ability to do your day to day things. (For characters this will be -1 to each stat until resolved).
Causes
Affection is believed to be through multiple ways, the main way being by a pregnant butterfly who needs somewhere to plant there young. They usually land on livestock like cows, pigs, boars, sheep, goats which seems to attract the butterflies. They usually land on the the creature and pierce the the skin inserting the impregnated eggs. In the warmth the eggs grows and eventually Lava come out which local farmers think are worms. To grow the "worms" start eating the insides of the animal. This can end in death and usually when they die they manage to escape and turn in to butterflies.
The other way is if someone or something comes into contact with the "worm" usually by eating the animal or skinning animals.
Symptoms
Tiredness, weakness and loss of fat and or muscle.
Treatment
Recently a small khaki beetle has found that usually digs for worms in ground was a surprising find that they could tempt the "worms" to the surface and the with it's pincers/claws and digs them out.
Prognosis
A pierce in the body and you may be able to see the worms moving around.
Hosts & Carriers
Cattle and other farm animals. Occasionally it effects humans, elves, Dwarfs and Halflings.
Prevention
During the butterfly breeding season it is common to rub down creatures you do not want to affect with a lotion of other flying insects especially if they are pregnant. It is supposed to ward the butterflies off as they think the creature is already got young in and it may be a dangerous place for tour young as there might be not enough food or it may kill your young.
