Lake Kasumi
Lake Kasumi is a large freshwater lake in Washu Province. Though not the largest lake in Fusō by surface area, it is the deepest, making it an ideal spot for a thriving fishing industry. Surrounded by several smaller lakes, it is connected to Lake Shōji by the Akai Ito River.
Folklore
The lake is named for the kami that embodies it. Local legend says Kasumi and Shōji are lovers connected by a red string of fate (unmei no akai ito) from which the river that joins the two lakes is named. The three smaller lakes in the region are their offspring.Natural Resources
The lake is abundant with varieties of carp, salmon, and eel that have caused a large fishing industry to develop in the villages surrounding the lake. It was also once a major source of pearls, though they are rarely found in the present day.
