Miko

A miko is a young woman who works at a shrine. They are often charged with taking part in ceremonies, performing cleansing rituals, Kagura dances, and completing daily tasks required for the upkeep of their shrine. Some miko serve as mediums to commune with kami. They are notable for their traditional clothing: a white kosode, bright red hakama, and white or red hair ribbions.
