Jola Waywocket

It's pronounced "YOH-luh."

Fenfritz Swiftcog's mother, and wife to Oruhim Swiftcog.

PERSONALITY

Jola was a boisterous but endlessly kind personality. By far the more socially outgoing of her and her husband, Jola very much enjoyed mingling with friends, neighbors, and clients while her husband preferred holing up in his workshop. She was selfless, hated conflict and violence, and was always quick to offer her time and care to anyone in need. Wherever her and Oruhim's travels took them, Jola quickly ingrained herself in the hearts and minds of the people there, and even if they only remained for a short time before moving on, her absence would be felt as strongly as if she had been one of their own.

Jola was very studious, the top of her class at the Clockwork Forge, and was obsessed with perfection in her work to the point of distress if there was an element she felt she could not get just right. Oruhim, much calmer of emotion than Jola, would often be tasked with assuring his wife of the quality of her work, which was not difficult as she trusted his judgment more closely than her own on matters of a tinkering nature.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Jola partnered with her husband in business under his name as one of the most renowned and talented tinkering names in recent history. Though the more outwardly social of the two, Jola declined having her name attached to any of their work, and as such, only a few know of Jola's integral involvement in the Swiftcog brand of technology. While her husband was second to very few in the schools of Inventing and Tinkering - as taught by the Clockwork Forge - Jola herself was second to none in the art of Enchanting - the marriage of magic with technology. Her efforts were crucial to her husband's work, as the more intricate and larger-scale inventions typically required more power and versatility than simple technology could accomplish on its own. An especially difficult feat within the Creeh Colony before the Vocantem, with very little magical energy available to be harnessed, the wonders Jola managed to weave into her husband's technology were historic, and of equal importance to Oruhim's own work though very few are aware of the credit she is due.

Jola graduated with highest honors from the Enchanting School of the Clockwork Forge, and though she cooperated with her alma mater on projects and advancements as did her husband, she did not sit on any of their higher councils, nor did she have a say in any of the school's managerial decisions. She had no interest in the politics or values of the institution, and while her husband was dedicated to the preservation of the school and advancements in knowledge for the generations of students to come, Jola was much more focused on how her work could be used to effect change in the lives of everyday people.

DEATH

Jola was stationed in Minnowick alongside her husband and daughter, Fritz, when the explosion which wiped out the settlement occurred. She was in the village with her husband when it happened, and is missing and presumed dead, as there have been no other survivors of the incident identified in the decades since.
