Alric Vadderung
Alric Vadderung
Alric Vadderung is a devout dwarf trying to keep his head up through the black hand that fate has dealt him and his brother. A steadfast follower of Clandeggin Silverbeard, Alric's core beliefs centre around strength, valor, honor, and the raising up of the weak. He does this through the low-scale distribution of weapons he crafts and the secondhand combat training he is eager to impart on those willing to learn.
But fiery passion smoulders at the edges of Alric's character. Threatening to consume him in a surge of zealous frenzy, and contradicting any good deeds he may achieve faster than his brash tongue and blunt way of speaking could ever.

Morality & Philosophy
Alric often struggles with the world. Having trouble placing his Dwarvish outlook against the world around him while balancing oaths to his people and his God. The Dwarvish principle of law made the introduction to the Mother's Womb difficult for him.
Never wanting to break an oath he will make them carefully, believing his honor to be one of the last remnants of Granite Hall and his actions equally his ancestors.
He believes the greatest honor he can pay his ancestors is helping those that can't help themselves. And that belief has begun to run underneath most of his decisions.

Personality Quirks
Begins humming when a fight starts, slowly getting more pitched and furious as it goes on.
Social
Family Ties
Heimdall Vadderung. His tinker brother and the smarter of the pair, something Alric will admit freely.
Religious Views
A casual follower of the Dwarvish pantheon growing up in Granite Hearth. Alric found an especially renewed faith in the Mordinsamman on his way to Baldur's Gate. He made a strong connection with Clangeddin Silverbeard in his travels and places him at the foremost of his worship. The Church's tenets of valor in the face of absolute hopelessness and endurance in times of hardship came to him at a pivotal time. He keeps a shrine to the Gods in his smithy, and often makes his way to temple to pay homage to Clangeddin through physical training.
Not content to focus on the martial training aspect of the Church's dogma, Alric also practices his faith by seizing the opportunity to protect his kin. At one point this meant the other members of the Granite Hall clan while they reacclimated to life in Baldur's Gate. He has found who he considers kin expanding during his time as a member of the Mother's Womb.
CLANDEGGIN SILVERBEARD'S DOGMA The finest hours of dwarvenkind come in the thrusts and feints of war. Seize the opportunity to defend your kin and ensure their victory wherever conflict erupts. Revel in the challenge of a good fight, and never waver in the face of adversity, no matter how ominous. Lives should never be thrown away foolishly, but the greatest honour is to sacrifice oneself on the field of battle in service to a righteous cause. When not fighting prepare for next conflict physically, tactically, and by acquiring resources. Attack hill giants whenever possible and other evil giants whenever necessary

While not adept at rousing public speeches or the most proficient in talking the armor off Dwarvish women, he can have a conversation.

Alric is a competent blacksmith by Dwarvish standards and a decent lapidary by his own. Better with the creation of personalized pieces of equipment that assembly line creation, the focus and feeling of worship through the process leaves him warmer than any forge.

Quotes & Catchphrases
You scrawny, knock-kneed, WINE-DRINKER!
We sons of Moradin may have drunk deep from the bitter waters of misfortune, but we yet survive. Whilst a single Dwarf draws breath, we will fight the evils that assail us, and we will never, ever give up.
Just making sure we are fighting the battle in front of us, not behind.
