Withers (a.k.a. the Rodent)
Withers was found wrapped in a tattered blanket and bought to an orphanage in Baldur’s Gate when she was just three years old. Thanking to her appearance, she never felt truly accepted by the other orphans and was often left to play with the bugs and rodents by herself, this never bothered her too much and the way she saw it, she had more friends than anyone in Baldur’s Gate. The nature of Wither’s “friends” often meant that during bath time, the sisters would pay extra attention to ensuring that Withers was clean to minimise the risk of infection to the other children. This often-meant scrubbing Withers until her skin was left raw and she was left in tears, although this never stopped her from spending times with her friends.
One particularly cold winter’s night in Baldur’s Gate, Withers was caught bringing rats inside, hiding them in the folds of her clothes.
Withers does not know much about the family that abandoned her and she would be lying if she said she did not think about it on occasion.
Perhaps they were a well-off human family, and evidence of an infernal heritage would have stained their reputation?
Maybe they thought she would have had a better chance without them?
Or it could have been a terrible misunderstanding that she was left coddled in a stinky blanket on top of a pile of refuse, and one day her parents would find her and take her and her stinky blanket home again…
