Government
Daggerford is officially led by a duke or duchess of the Daggerford family line (currently, Lady Morwen Daggerford) and the Council of Guilds, established by Duke Conan Daggerford around 1280 DR. The day-to-day operation of the town is left largely in the hands of the Council, with regional matters and issues of security handled by the palace.
Defences
Although Daggerford is not a great military power, its militia is well-trained, as are the guards of the ducal palace. Between them, they are more than capable of keeping the peace within the town and in the surrounding lands.
Industry & Trade
Daggerford's primary industry is argriculture: most of its income is generated by the production and sale of farm produce. It purchases iron and gems, which are turned into quality weapons/armour and jewellery.
Infrastructure
Daggerford boasts a large marketplace and guild hall, numerous inns, several well-stocked smithies, two jewellers, a bank, and has recently become home to an alchemist of some renown.
Assets
Daggerford does not want for food or weapons and the ducal palace houses a sizable treasury.
Guilds and Factions
For a relatively small town, Daggerford has a large number of guilds: twenty registered guild halls, each representing an important aspect of town commerce or infrastructure.
The largest centre of worship in Daggerford is a temple to Lathander called the Morninglow Tower, followed by The Harvest House, a temple to Chauntea. There is also a shrine to Tymora and another dedicated to Tempus.

History
Daggerford got its name from an incident that took place about 400 years ago: a wagon master sent his son ahead of the family wagon one evening to locate a safe passage across the Shining River. The boy located a ford, but was surprised and attacked by a party of lizard men. The lad slew six of the creatures with his only weapon, a dagger, and held off the rest until reinforcements from the wagon arrived. Seeing the potential for a trade hub, the family established a fortified outpost, which grew over time into a proper settlement.
While this story of the town'a origins may be pure fancy, the dukes of Daggerford claim to be direct descendents of the boy on the ford, the coat-of-arms of the ruling family sporting a bloody silver dagger on a blue field.

While the town has grand aspirations, most of its building are currently in a shabby state and looking somewhat rundown.
