The Challice Region, Evgenias
Description
The Challice Region, located in the realm of Evgenias, is a place of stark contrasts. The noble domain is centered around a mysterious Void Lake, where ethereal floating cities hover, held aloft by golden, translucent chains of magic. These radiant cities, bathed in divine light, float above dark and dilapidated slums, highlighting the disparity between the upper and lower classes. Loarkam the Fair, the realm’s goddess, resides in the grandest of these cities, her presence illuminating the entire region.Government
The region is governed by a Meritocracy under the enlightened rule of Evgenias. The Hero-Adventurers Guild and its partner faction, the Challice Trade Legion, hold significant influence. In this society, individuals earn status based on achievements rather than wealth or birthright. Although it operates on meritocratic principles, corruption and nepotism are prevalent in some areas. The gods, while residing in the region, do not interfere in governance, focusing solely on divine magic and the occult.Defenses
The region’s defenses are managed by the Sovereign Force, split into four specialized divisions. The Shield consists of unarmed warriors, champions, and fighters trained to protect others. The Arrow focuses on ranged attacks, magic, and survival skills, employing wizards, rangers, and sorcerers. The Blade forms the primary combat force, a versatile group of adventurers prepared for large-scale warfare. The Codex oversees internal security, managing local guards and law enforcement, and maintaining order throughout the realm.Commerce
Evgenias thrives on a traditional economy fueled by monster hunting, adventuring services, and the trade of rare weapon parts. Hunters and adventurers venture into the region's forests and wilderness to procure valuable materials, which are sold to craftsmen and traders. This trade sustains the region's economy and attracts those seeking fame, fortune, and rare artifacts.History
Evgenias is the youngest of all regions in Libertas, having emerged as a center of artistry nearly 3,000 years ago. Known for its skilled stoneworkers and sculptors, it gained prominence for creating intricate works that attracted admiration across the realms. The goddess Loarkam took notice and made the region her domain, constructing the floating cities that now define the landscape. Over time, the region’s artistic spirit transformed under her divine influence, leading to its current structure.Religion
The dominant religion in Evgenias is strict adherence to the worship of Loarkam the Fair and her angels. Any deviation from this path is met with harsh consequences, including punishments from village elders and reformant squadrons from the capital. Despite this, some villages secretly maintain the worship of other deities, such as Flax, resisting the strict religious order.Law and Order
The legal system in Evgenias is complex and bureaucratic, with numerous meetings and discussions that slow down the resolution of issues. While the system aims for fairness, nepotism and corruption hinder its effectiveness. Laws focus on basic principles, such as prohibitions against theft and murder, but enforcement and interpretation vary due to the influence of corrupt officials in certain areas.
