Nomen Infernale XLXVI: Aelos, Stand Still at Oudara

The battle between the Yafwad Wasteland brutes and the intrepid Compagnia Septentrionale became more pitched as the brutes and raiders spilled through the shattered door. The ogre who Alex had struck in the head with a stone swiped at the Oameni, but he was just out of reach. Those who had been touched by the Eknoi fire, Riven had loosed on them, deftly covered themselves in sand to stop the flames. The shaman looked ragged and burnt but his eyes still glowed with zeal. Theo batted away the swift attacks of a brute almost effortlessly. He gave himself a moment to think that the company might escape this with their lives but doubted it. Two brutes and a brutess surround Asbjørn, still fallen from his ill-fated leap. He rolled and tucked twice, seeing the heads of the javelins they thrust at him snap on the hard earth, but one struck true. Brutes penned in Teleptyon and Elissa and the still-smoking shaman headed directly for Teleptyon, his hands glowing a purulent pale chartruese. Teleptyon recoiled in horror as the Shaman grasped his flesh and he felt miasmatic decay ooze across his arms chest and face, his flesh bubbling to the edges of the syllable seared into his chest, which remained pristine.

Last to enter the gate was a wastelander with a real sword and imperious bearing. Alex noticed him and smiled as the the energies of the potion rioted behind his eyes begging to be loosed.

Kegho saw an opportunity to strike a wastelander and did him greivous damage, his organs tripping from the open wound while he looked on in horror. Asbjørn deftly fought off attepts to pull him back to the ground. Elissa is charged and while holding her ground and missed a chance to inflict damage on her attacker while he landed his blow. Two brutes struck out at Teleptyon though the second was narrowly deflected by the back of his hand causing him to drop his staff. Riven fired an arrow into the back of the shaman, but he did not fall even after the burning and an arrow to the back.

The odds seeming grim, Kegho slipped into his battle ecstasy to lop off limbs and heads with reckless, orgiastic abandon, and Asbjørn chugged his last potion of Bull's Blood. His vision blurred and reddened as the Rhennish witches' ancient music thrummed in his blood.

Alex loosed a bullet at the leader, which grazed him and pulled his gaze to the grinning Oameni. The leader struggled for a moment against the enchantment of the potion, but was caught fast in its net. He lost interest in the battle around him and walked through the din of battle to just below the archway on which Alex stood. Alex gestured around to the fight indicating dismay at the fighting and questioning why. The leader spoke no Rexan and Alex no Yafwadi, but Alex got the sense that he was asking him to descend from his perch.

Teleptyon throws an acid dart at one of his attackers but it lands in the sand nearby and sizzles as the acid pools around the tip in the ground. Kegho digs a meaty fist into the intestines of the enemy he had mostly disemboweled and pulled hard as if reigning in a horse. The last color drained from the wastelander's face as his eyes became glassy and he tumbled to the ground. Asbjørn swings his sword through the neck of one of the brutes. Alex standing above the fracas on the arch was drenched in arterial spray, which caused the barbarian to bellow with manic laughter.

Elissa moved back to make room to charge one of the enemies attacking Teleptyon, but as she ran at him, Teleptyon blinked out of existence and she missed in the ensuing chaos. Theo continued to batter the brutes which charged at him with his mace, dispatching another with a wordless prayer and a caved in skull.

Riven and Kegho both fire at the shaman disrupting his concentration. Kegho sank a flaming arrow into his neck, yet he still did not die.

The ogre focused in on Riven having shot the shaman and decided to attack her at the top of the parapet. He smashed his sandstone club at the tower, but the moonstone of the tower wass sturdier than the sandstone and the club crumbled in his hand. He howled in rage and swiped at her with his bare hand, knocking the wind out of her.

With Teleptyon gone, the attackers turned on Elissa but miss her in the chaos. She retreated not knowing that Teleptyon was moving just past her.

A battle axe bit into Asbjørn's thigh, but he did not notice it as he continued cutting through brutes like fine parchment.

Kegho shot at another flaming arrow at enemy moving toward Theo and as Theo dispatched the one in front of him, he swirled to see another crumple to the ground in a gout of flame.

Alex descended from the archway and slipped around the tower. Once out of sight of the leader, Alex took a shot at the fleeing shaman, shattering his knee and crippling, but not killing him, while shouting his location to Kegho. Kegho tried to finish the job but his bowstring snapped. Riven continued firing at the ogre but her string snapped as well.

Teleptyon reappeared with a pop just behind Elissa, put his hand on her shoulder and shouted words of power. They both popped out of visible existence. He led her to the chapel and they opened the door, and passed in invisibly. Yahi wailed in terror and voided himself. Elissa soothed him with her voice and began breaking up furniture to barricade the door.

Weary of battle Theo became less precise and benevolent with his strikes, crushing the windpipe of another brute with his mace and watching him asphyxiate. He would feel guilty later, if he survived.

Asbjøn nearly bisected the second to last brute attacking him.
