Urbs Magna I: Initiation Report
General Summary
Quardi, the 8th of Cirearius, 114 post Refugium
The earth rumbled under the feet of the party as Kegho narrowly avoided being surprised by toothy shrew of unusual size burrowing out of the ground. Fiercely territorial, they began wildly slashing and gnashing at the interloping adventurers. Kegho and Brother Theo were immediately injured grievously by the fearsome slashes of tooth and claw. Terrified by the attacks, they began to flee from the beasts in different directions. A shrew broke off to attack Alex, who dodged the attack and attempted to scramble up the cavern wall. However, Alex was unable to successfully scale the wall and he tumbled back to the ground while cursing his short limbs and large, hairy feet. Teleptyon made a tactical retreat down the hallway, but seeing the shrew rear up to attack the Oameni, He bent reality through his understanding of the Ar and sent a cloud of gnats its way. Seeing the shrew retreat, Alex sliced the shrew in twain. Kegho, having suffered mightily at the hands of the formidable shrews, dispatched the other in a barbaric rage, but was able to center himself before harming any of his compatriots in his savage bloodlust.
The beasts dispatched, Teleptyon passed out the sacks he had retrieved, and they all began pulling a week’s worth of food off of the walls in the form of Troglodyte's Meat. Making general introductions, Teleptyon insulted Alex’s language skills and inquired how often the rest of the party ends up in the kind of situation where everyone is drugged and attacked by shrews of unusual size.
Exploring the rest of the hypogeum was largely uneventful. In one corridor, the party found a rope heading downward into a seemingly bottomless abyss, for when they tried to haul up the rope, they were unable to find its end. Finally, they found stairs leading up out of the cavern, but the door at the top would not budge even under Kegho's might. Brother Theo, disorientated by recent events, started to become quite agitated. However, before Brother Theo gave into panic, Teleptyon led his new companions around a corner he discovered, and managed to come upon a very large centipede that had not yet detected him. Impatient with skulking in the shadows like a cowardly guttersnipe, Kegho charged in to challenge the venomous creature to a duel and found that it had two friends.
