Soul Shattered

Causes

One cause of being Soul Shattered is the Exalted Shatter spell. There are other ways to make someone Soul Shattered.

Symptoms

"Though the pain from the wounds of the body will fade together with time...The Injuries upon the soul still continue to throb with pain. Regardless of how many years go by." Being Soul Shattered means your soul is in many pieces, but still connected together enough to not be Soulless. Side effects of being soul shattered :
Magic Side Effects
They hear the whispers of the dead and dark
Whisperer’ abilities are usually heightened
They become destined to the dark, when they die
They are able to use soul and divine magic without negative side effects (for example, the Seal of Solomon)
They can immediately recognize other soulless creatures, including darknesses and light begins
If someone detects their soul, they appear soulless, unless they have a familiar

Once someone becomes Soul Shattered, they can't undo it.

Any species with a soul.

Prevention

Mutilating, destroying and removing souls is incredibly hard to do, so isn't that common. There are two ways to prevent someone else using soul magic to make you Soul Shattered, one is to bind your soul to your own body, the other is to have your soul bound to a seal, the Seal of Solomon for example.

Cultural Reception

Mutilating, destroying and removing souls, even your own, is frowned upon.
