Harpoon Crossbows
Harpoon crossbows are a universal weapon found on every ship in the Fractured Skies. These specially built crossbows are designed to penetrant small prey, such as birds or sky snakes, which then can be reeled in using the crank found on the weapons underside.
Crew use these weapons to contribute to a ships food stocks. A single bird may only feed a few crew at a time, but a small but steady addition to food stocks can be the deciding factor between a successful expedition and a crew that died of starvation.
All harpoon crossbows use the same material for their rope, silk taken from Great Silk Worms, a stretchy, light, and durable substance that allows the harpoon to shoot much further than traditional hempen rope.

Harpoon:
A creature hit with a weapon with the harpoon property is tethered to weapon that struck it. A weapon can only have one creature harpooned at a time. A creature immune to piercing damage cannot be harpooned. Removing a harpoon requires a DC 10 Wisdom (Medicine) check and 1 action. Failure still results in the harpoon being removed, but also causes that creature to take 1d4 piercing damage. If a harpooned creature tries to leave the range of the weapon, they must make a contested Strength check with the wielder of the harpoon. On a success, they break free (taking 1d4 piercing damage, but no longer being harpooned), while on a failure they loose their remaining movement for the turn. If the creature wielding the harpoon moves further than the harpoons range away from the harpooned creature, a similar Strength check must be made. On their turn, the creature wielding the harpoon can reel in the harpoon, moving the harpooned creature a number of feet equal to 5 times their Strength modifier. (halved if their target is a size category larger, but doubled if they are smaller). Similarly, the harpooned creature can attempt to yank on the harpoon line, causing a Strength contest, moving the creature a number of spaces equal to 5 times their Strength modifier (halved if their opponent is a size category larger, but doubled if they are smaller). Both the harpooner and the harpooned creature cannot move the other if the other is 2 or more size categories above them.
