Manufacturing
The manufacturing of Canes as brought forth a few distinct archetypes, with a few cosmetic differences between them. There are dozens to hundreds of these spread across the Freelands, but they are not typically found on the general market but moreso as collectors items or as familial artifacts. See them all below:
- Artisanal: All Artificers are proficient with this item as a weapon, even in its alternate forms. Can be used as Artisan Tool, a Spellcasting Focus, if wielded by an Artificer. All other spellcasting classes may not use this cane that way. All Artificers are proficient in this item as a Tool.
- Quickchanger: As a Bonus Action you may "change" weapon into its alternate form. The weapon takes on all Properties of that alternate form, but loses the previous form's Properties in exchange. You may use this Property multiple times but only once per Bonus Action. You may use this Bonus Action to break up your Action or your Attack.
- Triple Changer: As a Bonus Action you may "change" this weapon into its alternate form. The weapon takes on all Properties of that alternate form, but loses the previous form's Properties in exchange. However the changes must go through a specific order: Cane into Longsword, Longsword into Whip, and Whip into Cane. You may use this Property multiple times but only once per Bonus Action. You may use this Bonus Action to break up your Action or your Attack.

Access & Availability
Technically any Artificer with enough skill can craft one, just as much an Artificer can figure out how to craft one of House Flint-Locke's firearms or House Gladius's weapons. However as the Canes are symbol of authority to the New Blood Houses, most commonfolk don't bother with such things.
Complexity
The Canes themselves are not overly complicated in nature, but the nature of their "transformations" varies from one to the next. Some have whirring gears and manual shift, some are enchanted and magical transmutate, and for others the cane is more like a scabbard or holster for the weapon concealed within.
Discovery
The first Canes of the Meisters were created as symbols of power equal to that of the now lost Circlets of the Old Bloods and to serve as similar symbols to their station, however the Canes themselves were nowhere as potent in magical ability or power. As such instead inheriting Cane and having it pass from one generation to the next, each and every Meister created their own Cane from scratch with some Canes more "quirky" than others. Therefore hundreds of such Canes are in existence with most of their differences being cosmetic in nature rather than ability.
