Westend Town

"We're at the western edge of the world, everything washes up here eventually"

~Fin-Like-Fire of the Heavenly Hog Tavern

Demographics

Lower to middle class, minimal Human population however. Mostly Beastfolk and Dweller people live here; namely Lizardfolk, Grung, Tortles, Gnomes, and Vedalken. The only Humans you'd normally see pass through here are adventurers or fishermen, and even then they're usually Tieflings or Tritons.

Government

Its small council and mayor, they tend to avoid troubles whenever possible. Especially with the Holy Order of the Light and their intolerant ilk, the mayor does tend to be friendly with House Brewster due to the fruits and herbs they sell to them to make everything from wines to potions.

Defences

The town defenses are minimal, as are the city defenses. Thousands of years ago this location was under the protection of House Argus, though those days are long passed and most of its Knightly Orders have fallen into obscurity. Mostly adventurers, mercenaries, and a few town and city guards protect it.

Industry & Trade

Namely fish and fruits are this town and city's prize exports, a few other businesses such as taverns and shops exist but are not major contributors to the local economy.

Infrastructure

The building of this location wasn't exactly planned, it started as fishing port on the western edge into the Shoal and it grew eastward into the swamps of the Riverlands. There are a variety of dirt roads going every which way to all ends of the town, there isn't exactly a "rich" or "poor" district. But those closer to the sea are of the "city" and claim that nasty sea creatures come up and raid the smaller homes, but the swamp homes of the "town" claim they have it worse with the natural black magicks of the swamp creeiping into their community.

Assets

The town and city aren't exactly rich, but they do produce a variety of fruits (namely berries) from the richer earth near the swamp and the local fishermen are known to catch a variety of sea life and fish as well. They tend to trade and export these goods to make a living here, and despite the poverty the city is large enough to be recognized on world map of the Freelands.

Guilds and Factions

On the west end, in the city, there are a couple of guilds and unions for the fishermen and a few in eastern edge of town for the farmers. There is a local bank run by House Aurum and a local distillery run by House Brewster.

History

Westend Town, though it should be renamed City, was a fishing community born during the height of the Kingdom of Man and was part of the fief controlled and protected by House Argus. When the town began expanding eastward into the swamps, agriculture began to sincerely take hold and doubled the profits and population. With Great Rebellion and the ensuing taxes made by the New Bloods, much of what could've been for this town have been lost.

Tourism

Namely fishermen pass through this town and city daily to sell their stock and to replenish supplies. Adventurers, mercenaries, and the like pass through as well in order to complete jobs or if they're on the run from something... regardless this town and city doesn't get a lot of people passing through.

Architecture

Much of the town either rests on hard earth above sea level when possible, other wise many of the buildings are up on stilts to prevent flooding and other structural issues.

Geography

Betwixt the Shoal and the Riverlands lies mostly marsh and swamplands, a prime source of blue, black, and green magic.

Natural Resources

Seafood and various fruits can be found naturally here, but agriculture has redefined their growing patterns and locations as demand for these resources has increased.
