Witchslayer

Qualifications

The primary qualification to become a Witchslayer is to survive the trials and experiments necessary to become one. Such trials and experiments can be quite fatal, so both luck and providence must on the side of one wishing to become one.

Requirements

To be breathing and to have a pulse. There are no race disqualifications save being and Elf to become a Witchslayer, however after you become one you are a Witchslayer for life and are permanently affiliated with the Guild even after death.

Appointment

To become a Witchslayer one simply volunteers to undergo the necessary trials and experiments. Not all volunteers are true "volunteers" in every sense of the word. Some join out of desperation or as a means to get out of debt or even evade prison sentences.

Duties

The primary duty of a Witchslayer is to get contracts with citizens of the Freelands, slay whatever monster is terrorizing or threatening them, collect payment, move on to the next settlement, and repeat.

Responsibilities

If a Witchslayer encounters a problem that that is too great for a single Witchslayer to handle, the Guild dictates that they are to attempt to complete the job anyway. They carry their Witchslayer's Guild's repuation with them, they will attempt to slay the monster or die trying.

Benefits

A Witchslayer's Guild gives share of the pay to the Witchslayer responsible for the slaying, and will cover lodging and supplies as need be. It is cheaper to keep a Witchslayer alive in the long run than it is to create and train a new one.

Accoutrements & Equipment

A Witchslayer Guild supplies much of the base equipment for their Witchslayers, more specialized equipment can be requisitioned as need be depending on the prey in question.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Once you're a Witchslayer, you're a Witchslayer for life. The trials and experiments permanently alter their physiology, so even if you attempt to leave the Guild... you cannot hide what you are for long.

History

the term "Witchslayers" developed due to the first prey these Guilds hunted were "Witches" or more specifically Hags and Hag Covens that had infiltrated different settlements. Their most famous hunt, was discovering and slaying a Hag that disguised itself as the mistress of a New Blood noble. Since then the Guilds associated with hunting monsters and such were known as "Witchslayers".

Cultural Significance

The Witchslayers are the most affordable and efficient monster hunters, and are equal to Templars and the Warforged in ferocity and technique.
