Draugr (Dra Gar)
According to Risi legend, the souls especially violent or malicious entities are bound to this world. This occurs when the Life Soul of a being is so powerful that it is not restful even in death. The result of this the rise of a Draugr which translates into a "Troublesome Corpse."
The Draugr can be thought of as a revenant or a very powerful zombie. Unlike a tradition zombie Draugr retain the malevolence they had in life and obtain powerful magic and super natural strength. Nearly all of the creatures intellgence is lost. They are not capable or overcoming even simplist of puzzles. Furthermore, even the most powerful Draugr are not capable or any type of logic. For instance if a Draugr believes the front door is the entrance to a building it is completely in capable of understanding that another entrance, such as a window, can be used to enter a building.
However because their instincts remain intact they are capable of some degree of intelligence during combat on the same level you would expect from a wild animal. In addition, Draugr retains it's lower level braining functions. This would be the creatures subconcious urges and desires. That means that the Draugr will retain the same emotions that drove the creatures actions in life. These primarily include anger, jealousy, hatred, lust, or greed. It is believed that the more evil a person was in life the more likely they are to return as a Draugr and that Draugr they will become will more powerful the angrier it becomes.
Powerful Draugr do not rot or decay rather their flesh and bones becomes hard as iron. This makes them impervious to nearly all magic and physical attacks. However, Draugr do not remain animated indefinately. During the day or after their hitpoints are reduced to zero their bodies will experience extreme rigor mortis making their arms and legs nearly immovable resulting in burial being practically impossible if the create is not laying flat. Worshippers of the old ways have learned an ancient mixture that creates a powerful liquid that will soften the Draugr's skin breaking it's resistance when animated and easing the rigor mortis allowing it's limbs to be moved.
Also, Draugr can not be killed as they are already dead. They can only be restrained. This is usually done through the use of magic, crushing the Draugr under heavy stones, or freezing the Draugr in ice. Followers of the Great God Horis have learned of magically sutras that are used to help bind a Draugr, however some of the more powerful variety have proven capable of breaking free from these sutras.
