Intelligent Lifeforms, and Their Most Basic Classifications

There are three basic categories of being to be found here: The Soulless, Mortals, and The Soulful. The Soulless include undead, constructs, elementals, and the Fey in their numbers, while Mortals include all basic humanoid races (including Elves, but not pixies or sprites) as well as most non-magical creatures, and The Soulful are primarily comprised of Angels and Demons.
The Soulful-These are the demons and angels, and other related beings. The do not belong on any physical plane, as they are creatures of pure soul, intellect, etc. When visiting physical planes (even the Funhouse) the are able to create forms for themselves (avatars), which they then wear as clothing. They have great difficulty in interacting with anything physical while “naked” and can only get dressed once per visit. However, leaving is usually not difficult for them (unless constrained by a summoning circle or some such), and depending on circumstances they may be able to simply leave and then return. This gave rise to the illusion that destroying their physical body would banish them back to their home plane; this is in most cases not technically true and can be an important distinction in some circumstances.
Mortals-These beings naturally possess both a body and soul which exist together in harmony (hopefully). As such they are technically capable of traveling to and surviving in any realm or plane of existence (assuming it is not at the bottom of the ocean or composed solely of lava). At death the soul is separated from the body, etc. etc.
The Soulless-This group has no soul, no afterlife, no greater source of energy, nothing. Instead the majority of them are characterized by the way in which they are a normally inert shell of some sort which has been animated by a discrete force of magic of some kind (see constructs, undead, etc.). The only seeming exception to this rule is the Fey. They count as Soulless, however not many people are sure exactly why, or how they came to be/reproduce, if they even do reproduce. The Fey don’t seem to care to answer any such philosophical questions about themselves, so this will mostly stay a mystery. Elves do have souls, and as such do not count as Fey. They are super close however in many ways.
