Isla

Definitely going to be making multiple trips back to flesh this one out. As of right now, all I really know about her is that she is going to be someone who ER meets and sort of "picks up" in The City in Flux. I guess I'll make her from Karaki , because that has not been developed much AT ALL.

Isla was raised in the Highlands somewhere else in the Funhouse.  Somehow she ended up in The City in Flux trying to go it on her own in some capacity, probably at or around the of age 14 or 15. I haven't settled on the exact mechanism for that just yet, bet here's a non-exhaustive list of options that fit the vibe:
  1. Ran away from apprenticeship to big city
  2. Disaster (natural, magical, war) made her a refugee
  3. Parental unit/trade master came to city, died or something, she got stuck
  Regardless of how exactly she got there, Isla has been stuck in the city without any form of support system for about a year or so.  She's made it through all that fairly intact, but will probably have some low-leveled Vin syndrome going on.  Relations will not be amicable when they meet in the cell, or for a while after in all likelihood.  
Isla was either the daughter of or apprenticed to some sort of techno-artificer.  Maybe a tinker, repair-man, clockmaker, locksmith, something.  Those skills and that knowledge have been transferred over into her lockpicking work in the year since.  She will probably have some general knicks knacks and tools and things, and probably one last piece of her master's work of actual, legitimate value.  And maybe lethality.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

On the shorter side, but not ridiculously so.  She is fairly slight (pickings have been slim recently) and wears baggy, sack-like clothes so it is hard to tell exactly how big she is underneath.  She keeps her hair short, but has been known to throw a wig on for disguise purposes (if she can get her hands on one).  I think she will lean more towards the Incan appearance otherwise than the Highlander one.

Personal history

Generally suspicious and abrasive to most she meets (especially males) because of her last year or so.  Has learned to keep others at arm's reach, but also hasn't been burned tooooo badly either.  Things could have gotten much worse than they did.  As such, this is more of a veneer than an ingrained personality trait, and it grates.  After all, she remembers better days, and they still aren't too far removed in time, has the tiniest kernel of hope buried down inside still.  In general, she is math-minded intellectually, and tries to reduce things to calculations and percentages where possible.   Sometimes this is successful, but sometimes she gets burned (especially when attempting to reduce the actions of people down to such constituent parts.
