the oldest in the galaxy fallen and don't recover weary and worn out the last of their kind more advanced but fewer (a single person can out gun many tanks, but there are always more tanks)
they're all extinct and they copied their personalities into "soul" stones, so now they have these robots that are them, but still have to look like them (or at least most of them) so they can still be like "no, this is me"

their new bodies while grown are inorganic and nonliving, and need a soul stone to operate them

there are no more Ancient born, they unless a soul stone is broken they don't die either
their bodies are grown out of the very bone of the craft worlds, so more bodies can be grown but they wont move unless given a soul stone

long ago in a different era The Ancient built great cities that spanned planets, something caused them to collapse and their vast empire crumbled, there was an effort to preserve their species, the two solutions they came up with was soul stones and the Infinity Circuit. The Soul Stones captured an individuals knowledge, experiences, and "soul", while the Infinity Circuit captured the cultures knowledge and experiences.
