I have spent longer than I had intended here. I cannot bring myself to leave. I spend most of my time restocking my supplies and staring at this gate. Suppose Annise had died? What if she passed through this gate? Reborn as some bug somewhere?
They let me hunt in the forest, and the plains as well, but they warn me not to pass through the gate. What it would do to non-spirits is unknown.

The Caretakers noticed my anxiety, I noticed I had shrank as well...they explained it would take my mortality one way or another. They agreed to help me leave knowing that Anise was still on my mind. Staying here forever was not an option.
