Kaldau 10, 258: Goodbye Spenolt, The Gyre

I camped out by the river for awhile.. Eventually I made my way out of the forest as Spenolt moved, I moved with her. She made me feel safe.   I would ocassionally ask about Anise, but the way their thoughts became speech...something must have been wrong. They said the last human they had seen was ages ago. They didn't have the same concept of time as us, so...ages could be anything. She seemed unable to describe whoever she saw.   "Your kind don't frequent the gates...there are particular levels a spiritual journey might take you to, but rarely do we see your kind HERE."   While I walked and they floated, I came across something stuck in the reeds. A bit of paper, wet, but portions were still legible.   "I'm sorry I left so suddenly. I'm so alone. I'm sorry...."   The handwriting...was it Anise? It seemed different. Maybe she had aged, changed, or maybe she was scared. I found a piece of her though...maybe there's more.   Spenolt Showed me to the "Whirlpool Gate", as I call it...I'm sure there's another name. She says it leads to another layer of the Spirit World. Maybe I'll check it out someday. For now though, I say goodbye to Spenolt.   There's another drawing here, this one of a lake with a gyre spiraling toward the center. There are a couple of notes.   "I almost felt my lungs fill with water just looking at it.   I felt so lost.   Sinking."

Supplemental:   I don't know what happened to Spenolt, but during my journey I learned that this was not "The Torrential Gate" which would've led her home. Had she been deceived by someone? Where did that gate lead? Perhaps someone has an interest in controlling this river with her gone...
