Mothlight Trees are the mystical, glowing deciduous trees that can be found in the forests of The Gates.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Mothlight Trees are deciduous trees with smooth, marbled bark similar in appearance to an aspen tree. Their leaves are large and spade-like similar to a catalpa leaf.
The leaves on this tree emit a soft glow which is especially beautiful at night, but the glow from these trees can also be seen during the day by Mothlings and those blessed by Tympi.

Genetics and Reproduction

Mothlight trees spread polen with the help of insects and the wind. A fertilized flower will change into a beanpod capable of making new mothlight trees, however, tending to the growth of the plant requires a very skilled botanist that is also well versed in certain spiritual and natural magics. Being chosen by the forest also helps, and is how Tympi managed to grow the ones that she did.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The beans from a mothlight tree are used to create Mothlight Bean Vodka, a delicious spirit with a slight vanilla-like taste.
The light emitted by them was used by Tympi to create The Hidden Village of Mothlights.
