The Gallery
Within the Maze, the Spiritual Travelers found a room with paintings covering the walls that depicted them in different scenarios. This room had a strangely smooth linoleum floor which Kaswink discovered was just hiding the same pink-grey bricks.
Each painting was labeled, the descriptions are as follows:
Corrupted - This painting has the same desert landscape, though it is now largely obscured by the looming silhouette of a robed figure. Shadows of this figure branch out in all directions from it, lengthening, stretching out, but bending upward and forming a cage around the figure. Spires can also be seen rising from the ground far away towards the horizon.
They Fall - The scene depicted in this painting shares the same desert landscape, the spires from the previous painting are far closer, and it is apparent that they are made from some overlapping material and that smaller, serrated spikes are jutting forth from each one. Several undetailed forms look to be propped against each spire.
Lost - Again, the desert scene is apparent, a spire is much closer, only one visible, and the overlapping pieces are reminiscent of some insect chitin with serrated spikes sticking out in all directions. A rat-like humanoid wearing desert-colored vestments can also be seen, he looks a lot like Agave, although the eyes are glazed over completely, foggy, and a look of utter confusion is on his face. The robe that he is wearing looks to be full of moth holes, barely held together, though the remaining pieces of fabric look to have a pattern resembling a very intricate map.
In Their Ways - Yet another desert scene is visible in this painting, though the foreground looks to have a bit more vegetation, followed by a river, and then the usual desert scene. A few spires can be seen on the horizon, and the edge of one is in the foreground on the viewer’s side of the river. A thinner humanoid is kneeling at the river bed, hands pressed firmly into the ground and digging slightly into the mud. The head of this figure is plunged into the river water, and looking closely you can see that there are actually bodies floating along the river. Floating high above this figure is a venetian mask with similar coloring and design as Hysteria’s own, however, it has no mouth. The strings of this mask are trailing above it as though it were falling from the sky.
Abandoned - A similar desert scene is visible, the figures that were previously seen on the spires seem to be walking about, the perspective on this painting seems to be from a bit more of a downward angle rather than flat at the horizon. Towards the center of the painting are several fish bones drying in the sun, and an entire fish skeleton seems to be swimming away towards the top of the scene.
Walking - the same desert scene is shown again, there are the portions of two spires framing either side of the landscape with the arid, dry and cracking clay-like dirt between them. Scrub, small cacti, and tiny trees can be seen as well. A single larger tree can be seen on the horizon, and in the foreground is a legless human man in mid stride while walking on his hands. He looks incredibly upset about something, though his face does look a lot like Frode’s. Whatever is upsetting him is behind the “lens” as he is looking directly at you.
Outside - The same desert scene, mysterious spires, and lying on the dried, cracked, clay-like earth is a trench coat. Its inside is facing upwards, lying open, and the three interior pockets are visible. Peeking a head out from each pocket are three snakes, though their heads are humanoid, and the ears on each head are missing with bloodied stumps in their place as though gnawed off by some creature. A coiled, spiraling shape can be seen causing an indentation from underneath the coat, possibly another snake.
Time - A, possibly, small puddle surrounded by the same dry and cracked desert is seen in this painting. The perspective is facing the surface of this puddle directly, and multiple ripples are covering the entirety of this puddle. A large, fur-covered, brutal looking shadow is cast over the surface of this area of the desert. The puddle is incredibly reflective, showing a sky covered in beige-pink clouds, and a face is scattered over each tiny wave. At the center of the puddle you see a face that closely resembles Kaswink, and each ripple shows further progress along the transformation you’ve seen her take before in battle, however, noticeably the tusks of this creature are missing.
