Wheredigo (wɛr'dɪ'goʊ)

The Wheredigo (pron. wɛr'dɪ'goʊ/Where dih goh) is a spirit which can be found throughout The Gates. It is a manifestation of the Unanswered Questions "Where am I?" or "Where did I come from?" and is representative of the phrase "I am not where I am."   The Spiritual Travelers first encountered the Wheredigo towards the end of their downtime between Nurend 19th and Nurend 30th in the year 308. They first experienced strange hallucinations of Sandstone Walls which would later end up being the walls of The Labyrinth they were eventually trapped in. After seeing these walls they were transported to another place entirely and experienced an unusual vision involving a hungry caterpillar. The disorienting shift between places they were or were not could have been due to this creature, though it is uncertain if it was responsible for the strange caterpillar vision entirely. That being said, it seems to be capable of teleportation and complete tangible location manifestation as it demonstrated these abilities by removing the Spiritual Travelers from the Mothlights and by placing them somewhere in the forest after it was defeated.
After completing the vision, the Spiritual Travelers again found themselves somewhere complete different as they were in The Labyrinth which they had caught glimpses of beforehand. The floors were unusually damp and the walls were made of sandstone. Damaging the creature or rooms which were hostile seemed to cause the walls themselves to shake and slowly lose opacity as if fading from existence. After enough damage had finally been dealt, the walls faded from existence entirely and the Spiritual Travelers found themselves in an endless black void. It was notably not dark as they could clearly see their allies and spells were still visible as well. Fire and moonlight created by Agave could be clearly seen though lacked any luminosity as the fire and moonlight almost appeared to be made of cloth as if a practical special effect.   Within this black void, the Spiritual Travelers eventually found the Wheredigo which was screaming in pain. Agave and Namina struggled with whether to just kill it outright or try to extract some information from it. Certain questions seemed to be neutral while others either caused pain for the creature or healed it. Particularly, the question of "Where am I?" or "Where are we?" was met with the Labyrinth slowly rebuilding and the creature ceasing its unpleasant cries.
It is currently unknown how much of the labyrinth generated by this creature will match the labyrinth that definitely exists within the Badlands. It is also unknown if the Spiritual Travelers were physically transported to The Labyrinth and have partially explored the "true labyrinth" or if it was created around them somewhere completely different. This sense of being uncertain of where one is or feeling as though one is not truly where they are is just part of the Wheredigo's nature.   When the Wheredigo was defeated, it left behind nothing from its body save a single Teleportation Needle.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Wheredigo is a rather tiny spirit, especially when compared to the other Unanswered Questions. It is about the size of the average humanoid palm and has the general shape of a potato. Its legs are without joints, save some free-floating connections near its body which allow it to clumsily move each appendage in a swinging motion for minimal mobility. These legs have the appearance of long, thin needles.   It doesn't have much of a face, lacking any features besides a small circular mouth. This mouth is full of tiny needle-like teeth which line the perimeter.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Wheredigo feeds off the Locational Uncertainty created by its abilities. The less aware a creature is of its true location, the more a Wheredigo can siphon from them. It can also feed directly off the soul of an individual if it manages to latch itself onto them.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Wheredigo doesn't have much in terms of physical senses unless it is in its "Location Form" and has generated methods of physical perception such as eyes or ears.   If anything is within its Void or Location Form, then the Wheredigo is psychically aware of its exact location. Additionally, if the Wheredigo is physically attached to a creature it can read its mind to generate more personal locations.
