Chapter 18: Rosalind - A Discovery
Chapter 18 Deep Dive
Outline:
- Rosalind is almost done with the book
- The book began with the old tribes - Rosalind finds it boring
- She's then immersed with uprisings and rebellions and stories of larger-than-life warriors
- The faded ink gave her a headache so she stops reading at night
- She uses the evenings to learn every flag, standard, and crest PLUS the face of the 42 lords
- She won't give up - she will be queen
- Rosalind watches from the towers as each morning a fresh batch of men go into county Stonehill to go north for the apple
- She hopes they don't survive the Shadow Woodlands
- Rosalind remembers Lilla and Esabel gushing over a book of love spells
- She wonders of the same book has a spell to give the interlopers hermeroids or hay fever
- Rosalind mulls it over as a garrison not much older than her rides past the castle
- Two days later, a later summer storm rolls in and Rosalind is thrilled that there are no new men
- Shes in such a good mood she: chased 3 different cats, visited the stable boy, pulled Mathild's hair, and dropped fleas into Sir Arthor’s bread
- She retreats to her room with cheese
- She lays on her stomach reading the book, keeping pillow and embroidry to hide it
- Rosalind finds the pages on Ahmenebar
- Ahmenebar traveled 60 days and nights eating soup of thorns
- Ahmenebar finds the cliffs and a a small, withered tree that burned, though it did not char
- He plucked the first golden apple - that grew and noticed that it shone brightly and glittered like the sun and glowed like the moon
- Rosalind doesn't know a place like this in Ludo
- She will need maps and help
- Rosalind places her hand on the page
- There a knock at the door and Rosalind hides the book
- Mathild tumbles into her room to warn her to hide
- Roland and Arthor ate half the flea loaf before realizing
- Rosalind doesn't need telling twice
