- Rosalind decides to follow the King’s Narrow to the Corstock and the Georges Rivers all the way straight into the very heart of the Shadow Woodlands and MacGregor
- She has a plan
- She'll need food, clothes, supplies, a horse, and her bow - but at least she has a plan
- Rosalind stays awake all night making a plan
- At dawn she steals apples from the kitchen and brings them to her and Mathild's horses
- She is later joined by the stable boy Rafe
- Rosalind asks how her horse is doing
- Rafe says well
- Abigale runs to see them, she has cakes
- She offers the cake to Rafe since Rosalind is still frosty
- Rafe takes the cake and says Rosalind has been there for hours
- Abigale tells R osalind she thought she left
- Rosalind refuses the cake and repeats she will leave
- Rosalind is upset because she thought Abigale understood, but she doesn't
- Abigale tells her to accept her circumstances
- Rosalind refuses and she feels the little hope she has waver
- Rosalind says she'll show her
