Roland gave them gifts and a ring for Brandon
Brandon asks why did he get a ring
Rodrick thinks it could be because Roland missed his daughters
Brandon tries to imagine him and asks what the king was like
Brandon asks to see the ring
He sees the seal and tells his dad to sell it
Rodrick refuses, he wants Brandon to use it to start his life
Brandon insists he wants his father to use the money for food
Brandon insists he won't marry since no one will want him
Rodrick is offended
Brandon says he might marry Mary Sharrow
Rodrick says he'll still need money to marry Mary
Brandon is upset since Thomas was allowed to give up his money and his fututre but not brandon
