Brightstone Staff

The Brightstone Staff is one of many old magical staves constructed by the Wood Elf druids of the Northern Wilds. The Brightstone Staff, so named because of the enchanted piece of jade that rests on top of it, resembles a twisting, gnarled branch of cedar. The haft is scored with irregular marks and druidic incantations.   The staff allows the wielder to tap into the latent healing magics found in some of the springs and ponds of the Northern Wilds. This magic also repulses the dead. However, the staff has a limited reserve of magic, and must recharge at every dawn. If the magics of the staff are spent, the haft disappears in a flash of light, leaving behind a dull stone that slowly regenerates the staff over several days.

Magical, Versatile Staff

1d8 (one-handed) or 1d10 (two-handed) bludgeoning damaging; +1 to damage and attack rolls
  • Wild Glow: as an action, cause the staff to glow for 1 minute or until it succeeds an attack, turning all undead that can see or hear you within 30 ft.; the staff's damage also becomes radiant for the duration
  • Druidic Healing: the staff grants the wielder access to some of the healing properties found in the Northern Wilds; use the staff to cast a limited pool of healing spells without expending spell slots
  • Druidic Focus: the staff can be used both as a weapon and as a druidic focus simultaneously
  • Limited Reserves: the magics of the staff can be spent; sometimes when the staff is overused, it disappears and must grow back over several days

Brightstone Staff

Staff Magical, Versatile Legendary (this item requires attunement)

The staff can be used as an arcane focus by a Druid. Can only be attuned by a Druid or a Cleric.   This weapon is magical: add +1 to both the attack and damage roll when it is used to attack.   This staff has 5 Charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its Charges to cast one of the following Spells from it, using your spell save DC and Spellcasting Ability modifier: Cure Wounds (1 charge per Spell Level, up to 5th), Lesser Restoration (2 charges). or Mass Cure Wounds (5 charges).   Additionally, you can use 2 charges to cause the staff to glow with a dim light. For 1 minute or until the staff succeeds an attack, the staff's damage becomes radiant. Additionally, each Undead that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Spell Save DC. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage.   A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from you as it can, and it can't willingly move to a space within 30 feet of you. It also can't take reactions. For its action, it can use only the Dash action or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from moving. If there's nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action.   The staff regains 1d4+1 expended Charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the haft vanishes in a flash of light, leaving behind only a dull piece of jade. The staff regenerates slowly from the stone over 1d4 days. The stone cannot be used as an arcane focus, weapon, or to cast the staff's magic.
