Chapter 4: All the Magister's Men | Session XIX: Loose Ends - Report
General Summary
The Dungeon Bois quickly found Magister Ferdinand the Clever after dispatching Sir Desmond and his lieutenants. The Magister was caged, and appeared to be coming out of the affects of some kind of spell or stupor. After leaping over the cage and rescuing the gnome, the party managed to resuscitate Ferdinand, gleaning fragments of what might have happened: Ferdinand was under the effects of a powerful mind controlling spell, and had been working on interplanar communication rituals at the behest of Desmond. The Magister, after regaining his composure, helped the party rally guards still loyal to the city and sought out Tommy and Mikhail.
The group, a few guards and the Magister in tow, headed outside of the hall, and quickly saw a separate building on fire and surrounded by other guards. Presuming Tommy and Mikhail might be been involved, they investigated, and indeed, found the rogue and magician doing battle with a dozen guards. The Dungeon Bois dispatched the Honor Guardsmen while Ferdinand rallied the non Honor Guard still loyal to him to fight back against Desmonds men. Allies saved, the Dungeon Bois took a much needed long rest in the Magister's Hall while Ferdinand, Janica, and Mikhail planned to rebuff Desmond's coup.
During the night, after praying, Scratch had a vision of Leslie in the Magister's library, surrounded by bones, levitating, and eyes turning black. The tabaxi rose suddenly, and the party has a girls night.
The next morning, the Dungeon Bois woke to the servant Belladonna had incapacitated asking them to meet the Magister in his dining room. There, the Magister explains that the coup was being rebuffed still, and though the fighting was fierce, it looked like the loyal city guard would arise victorious. After they pooled their information, the combined forces of Leslie, Mikhail, and Ferdinand decided to augment Ferdinand's research to try and peer into the mind of Ostawoth, who might have been behind Desmond's newfound might; the group headed to the library to perform the ritual, mirroring Scratch's vision.
In the library, they performed a powerful arcane ritual using Ostawoth's bones. These were destroyed entirely, and at that moment, Leslie began to levitate and his eyes turned black. He had a shocking vision of Ostawoth being given power by Vardin and rising in a Dark Elf castle, where the fiend slaughtered every living thing. After that, the fiend toiled to raise undead; Leslie saw visions of the ancient relic, the Crown of Velsharoon, as well as the Tomb of the Comforted. Arising from the sudden vision, Leslie informs everyone of what he had just seen. The scholar's all put their heads together to intuit that Ostawoth, already a powerful creature, was risen by Vardin, Lord of the Undying, and had begun raising an army and searching for the Crown of Velsharoon. The visions of the Tomb of the Comforted also implied the creature was seeking the remains of its one time nemesis, Jedia Sunlight, to raise a Death Knight.
The party pauses to reflect on their findings.

Notes
Here's what happened last time on Dungeon Bois: Voyage of the Damned:
The Dungeon Bois find Magister Ferdinand and rescue him from the powerful geas of the dastardly Sir Desmond. With the clever gnomes help, the party rebuffs Desmond's coup, and begins restoring order to Bridgetown.
Later, the group partakes in an experimental ritual to peer into the mind of the villain Ostawoth. During the incantations, Leslie is struck by a powerful vision of Ostawoths rising and work: he sees Vardin, the Crown of Velsharoon, the Tomb of the Comforted in Northport, and legions of undead. The group intuits that the fiend is likely trying to raise the corpse of his one time nemesis Jedia Sunlight, interned in the Tomb of the Comforted, as a death knight, and raise an army of undead in the name of Vardin.
The group pauses to consider the ramifications of their findings.
