When held it acts as a ring of fire resistance, giving you the immunity to the effects of normal fires (torches, flaming oil etc.)
Very large and hot fires such as hell hound breath can only cause a maximum of 10hp of damage per round when dagger is held.
Exceptionally hot fires such as red dragon breath, flame strike and fireballs are saved with a +4 bonus to the die roll. Each dice is calculated at -2 per die although each die is never less than 1.
