Cult of the Glow
Originally part of the nomadic Children of Atom sect in the Great Dust Bowl, this splinter cell settled down when they discovered a rare fungus. It only grew in a pre-war Super Duper Mart, the child of the antique food preservatives, cleaning chemicals, and Atom's holy division, it provided something they took to calling 'the Sight' when they were under the influence of the fungi. Excommunicated by their brethren, the Cult of the Glow were condemned as chem addicts and left to their fate while the rest of the convoy moved forward on their pilgrimage.
Greatly changed by the experience of their altered perception, the Cult of the Glow gave up their hostile attitude towards outsiders and began to welcome anyone who shared their evolving beliefs. The mutated mushrooms had a different effect on those outside the faith, granting them near immunity to even severe radiation without so much as a layer of clothing on. The details of how these conclusions were found is not important. This property soon attracted unwanted attention by those looking to create a new form of Rad-X, and the Cult was forced to show that they weren't by any means pacifists to those looking to steal their connection to Atom.
Those that have spoken of their experiences claim almost unanimously that a shared channel of communication opens between groups that consume this psychoactive fauna. Although temporary, this effect can be particularly jarring for those that are keeping surface level secrets. This turned at least one duo hostile to each other when they discovered that they were both just traveling with the other one to steal some special bottlecaps with stars on the underside. Fair warning is usually given to outsiders now about these potential consequences and is hailed as a 'truth serum' locally for discovering the sincerity of a suspected liar.
