Super Mutant Behemoths Species in The Great Dust Bowl | World Anvil

Super Mutant Behemoths

As the FEV ravages human biology, some subjects continue to grow at exponential rates. Becoming monstrous in size, they lose much if not all of their sentience during this process. These giants aimlessly roam the wastes in an endless rage, killing or eating anything they encounter. They are capable of shrugging off nearly any attack, don’t seem to feel pain, and can crush nearly any man-made material with their bare hands. Even the strongest factions avoid them at all costs, going as far as to track known whereabouts to coordinate operations around them.

The unique environment of the Great Dust Bowl creates the perfect storm for the virus, the harsh climate causing these brutes to become larger and more resilient than their cousins in the rest of the wastes. An animal cunning replaces their reasoning, allowing them to stage ambushes and set simple traps to alert them of a nearby snack. They are also known to keep prisoners that can be eaten in times of scarcity, placing them in crudely made cages they simply wear on their backs as they continue on. One report even suggested a behemoth entering a state of hibernation during intense weather, laying buried a few feet underneath the sand for a week until a brahmin got too close and roused the creature back out of its slumber.
