The New Eden Templars
Roman Catholicism was the shared belief of those that entered The Eden Compound the days the bombs fell. It was thought a shared set of values would help this governmental facility weather the apocalypse, however it soon became just another tool in the Enclave's cabinet to force blind obedience. New interpretations of the old bibles were made, and before long they were the only version authorized for use. They bound spiritual beliefs to their protocols and military doctrines, with minor infractions being punished by society as much as appointed leaders.
Although personal freedoms quickly slipped away, this focus allowed them to create technological wonders in their isolation underground with their limited resources and manpower. Inspired by the process of harnessing natural energies from the Earth, a new culture rapidly grew that was centered on restoring the planet to its divine design. While this is often pitched as cleaning up the damage done by atomic warfare, it also means the genocide of anyone considered a mutant in the eyes of the church.
When the Eden Compound re-entered the habitable zone, new recruits were allowed to join the organization if they displayed the proper qualities. The Enclave usually preys on those in dire situations, offering food and shelter in exchange for unquestioned loyalty that usually borders on fanaticism. Still, there are plenty that follow the faith that believe what they are doing is right and seek to do the least harm as they spread the message across the wasteland. Sometimes unaware of the plans of wholesale slaughter across the mutant populations or indoctrinated to believe they are incarnations of the devil himself, most fall victim to group conformity in the end and find themselves crossing lines for their faith that they would never have imagined before their conversion.
